Moto UK store locations
What Moto is
Moto is the UK's largest motorway service area operator, providing fuel, the sector's broadest multi-brand food-to-go and retail concession mix, EV-charging infrastructure, Travelodge-branded accommodation and HGV driver facilities to motorway and trunk-road travellers across its own roadside estate.
Price tier: Mid-market
Ownership: Moto Hospitality Limited operates under parent Moto Holdings Limited, owned by Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and funds advised by CVC Capital Partners (CVC bought a 40% stake from USS in 2022). Every site is directly, equity-operated -- there is no franchise model for the Moto fascia itself; the in-site food-to-go and retail units (Greggs, Costa, Burger King, KFC, WHSmith, M&S Food, Krispy Kreme, Pret a Manger and others) are licensed concessions, not franchisees of Moto.
Formats: Full motorway service areas (forecourt plus multi-brand food-to-go, retail, parking and washrooms) are the primary format at 54 of 61 field-researched sites, alongside trunk-road/A-road service sites and a small number of standalone fuel-only forecourts (7 of 61). Travelodge-branded accommodation is attached at 72% of sites, a materially higher attach rate than either of its two main UK rivals. An emerging HGV/truck-stop format with eHGV superhub charging is named in Moto's own growth plans.
Growth: In 2026 Moto secured 75-year lease extensions on 10 sites from the Department for Transport and National Highways, unlocking a stated £500 million investment programme (following £300 million already spent over the preceding five years) for new motorway service areas, truck stops and expanded EV-charging infrastructure, including a roadmap to 15 eHGV superhub sites. Recent new-build openings include Rugby (2021) and Sawtry on the A1(M) (H1 2025). FY2025 accounts (year to 24 December 2025) report turnover of £1.12 billion and pre-tax profit of £57 million, a turnaround from a £25.8 million net loss in FY2023.

How many Moto service stations are there in the UK?

Who owns Moto?
Moto Hospitality Limited is owned by Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) and funds advised by CVC Capital Partners. There is no franchise model for the Moto fascia itself -- every site is directly operated.
Where are most Moto sites?
Moto does not select sites by town-level demographics -- it operates within the nationally regulated UK motorway and trunk-road service-area network, with sites spaced under Department for Transport / National Highways spacing policy rather than concentrated in particular towns or regions.
What's available at a Moto service station?
Fuel (BP or Esso), multi-brand food-to-go and retail concessions (including Costa, Greggs, Burger King, KFC, M&S Food, Krispy Kreme, Pret a Manger and WHSmith), EV charging (at 92% of sites), Travelodge-branded accommodation (72% of sites) and HGV driver facilities including parking, showers and, at some sites, driver laundry. There are no drive-thru or delivery channels -- Moto sites are an in-transit roadside stop, not a destination-order format.
