What InstaVolt is
InstaVolt is a nationwide rapid and ultra-rapid EV charging network, built on reliability and simplicity - pay-as-you-go contactless charging with no app or subscription required - and hosted across motorway services, retail and hospitality car parks and local-authority car parks.
Price tier: Mid-market
Ownership: Owned by EQT Infrastructure (EQT Infrastructure V fund), which acquired the business from Zouk Capital, manager of the government-sponsored Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund. Every site is operated directly by InstaVolt, with no franchise or dealer model.
Formats: Motorway service area and trunk-road corridor sites, including multi-bay superhubs and battery-storage-equipped sites; retail park and destination hubs; QSR drive-thru and hospitality car parks; local-authority car parks; grocery and health-club car parks. Chargers range from 50kW rapid units to ultra-rapid units of up to 400kW.
Growth: Expanding through organic site openings with retail, hospitality and motorway-service partners, the acquisition of the GeniePoint network (being rebranded to InstaVolt), and battery storage to unlock grid-constrained sites, toward a stated target of 11,000 chargers across the UK and Ireland.
